Product Specs
This Sonata is one of "Six Easy Solos for Violoncello or Bassoon, with Basso Continuo, in which are introduced some favourite Scots Airs". It was composed around 1778 by Stephen Paxton (1735-1787), and English cellist who lived in London for some 30 years. Several of his works, as this one, incorporate national airs or well-known movements by Handel.
In this edition for Double Bass and Piano, the Piano part has been realised by Cathy Elliott. The Sonata can, however, be performed as a duet for Double Basses if the second player follows the left hand of the Piano part.
