Why Rent?
Our rental scheme gives you the chance to try an instrument of your choice for a low monthly rate. We rent out good quality instruments which encourages beginners when they are starting out. It is a false economy to buy cheaper instruments as they are usually made with low quality materials and components. Our instruments are set up, guaranteed and maintained through your rental period. All instruments listed are brand new outfits, i.e. instruments and cases.
How The Scheme works
We are teamed with the MIFCO Leasing and Financing Ltd (MIFCO). After your initial first monthly payment to us in store, MIFCO will take the remaining 23 monthly payments by direct debit. After 24 monthly instalments the instrument becomes yours. You may purchase at three months interest free. Minimum rental is four months.
Applying
Your first payment in store must be paid by credit or debit card, the remaining monthly payments by direct debit to MIFCO. Please bring your bank account details with you. A credit check will be carried out at the time of arranging the agreement. This will only take a few minutes, then you can leave with your instrument.
Applications can also be done by post, all forms must be signed and returned to us before the instrument can be dispatched.
To Cancel
If you wish to return the instrument you may do this at any time after the minimum four months rental period. The instrument must be in good condition (normal wear and tear accepted). Your payments to MIFCO will stop once we have agreed to take the instrument back. (We are not legally obliged to accept an instrument back under this scheme. You must maintain the instrument and ensure it is kept in good condition throughout the duration of the agreement).
Insurance
Your instrument must be insured. You will receive a months free insurance from New Moon Insurance and they will contact you to extend this cover if you wish. Your instrument is covered for loss, accidental damage and theft.

Student Violin Rental
- 9 months interest free rental
- 4 quarterly payments of £23 (or £15 for an ex-rental violin), payable by credit or debit card. The violin then becomes yours. Total cost is only £92.
- We offer Stentor Student violin outfits from 1/16 to 4/4 size. All our violin outfits are carefully checked and set-up in our workshop, and come complete with 4 string adjusters and correctly fitted pegs and bridge.
- After completion of the rental, we will part-exchange your violin when you are ready to move to another size.
- The scheme is only available to school children. Adults can use our rent to buy scheme.
- Rental can be done by mail-order, but there is a £9 delivery charge. Please contact us for a form.
Student Cello Rental
- Our cello rental scheme enables your child to play on a well set-up cello, at a very moderate cost. As the child grows, the cello can easily be exchanged for a larger size at any time.
- The outfit is properly set-up in our workshop, with a fitted bridge, 4 string adjusters, a set of Dogal strings (or similar), together with a padded cover and bow.
- The rental fee is only £30 per 3 calendar months. The price includes our "peace of mind" cover, which covers you for loss or damage. Cellos from 1/8 up to full-size can be rented.
- The scheme is only available to school children, adults can use our rent to buy scheme. Cello rentals are available to personal callers only.
