Flexible Low Cost Rental Plan
Our plan has been running for over 8 years now. It has proved really popular, and literally thousands of people have used this scheme. It is an ideal way to start playing, and people have also used it as a way of spreading their purchase.

- Buy an upgrade instrument & deduct 50% of all payments.
- Rent for 2 years and it becomes yours. Return the instrument at any time.
Why come to us for your instrument?
- Almost any student or intermediate instrument over £150 can be bought with this scheme (subject to status), and it is extremely flexible. You can spread your payments and buy, rent or purchase at the end of any period.
- No large financial commitment. Return the instrument and payments stop.
- All our instruments are thoroughly checked and regulated before being sold.
- All instruments are guaranteed for one year, and if you have any problems, we have repairers on site.
- We are a specialist shop, and always happy to give and advice.
- Ex-Rental instruments can be purchased on this scheme at reduced prices (please enquire about availability & price). These are also covered by our one year guarantee.
How the plan works
- Pay a deposit of 15% of our discounted price, then nothing for 3 months. This is followed by monthly rentals at 5% of our discounted price.
- At any time you have the option to continue renting, buy the instrument or return it. Minimum rental is 3 months.
- Buy at 3 months and it is interest free. Your deposit is deducted from our cash price. If you buy after the first 3 months, 75% of all your payments are deducted from our discounted price.
- You can return the instrument & purchase an upgrade, 50% of all your payments are deducted from our discounted price.
- After 21 monthly payments the instrument becomes yours (after a nominal amount equal to 1 monthly payment). Payment is made by credit or debit card, charged automatically until the instrument is either purchased or returned. We send you a complete payment schedule, so you know exactly when and how much you will be paying, and how much it is to buy at any stage.
How do I start renting?
If you live locally, just come into the shop and fill in a simple form. You can then take the instrument away with you. OR download the form & information below. Send it to us, and we will send the instrument by return.

What about insurance?
It is your responsibility to make certain that the instrument is adequately insured (including outside the home). We are able to offer a special 'peace of mind' protection, which covers you for loss or damage while the instrument is on rental. The cost is only £1.50 each month, and is taken along with your rental payment. We strongly recommend that you take advantage of this facility.
Student Violin Rental
- 9 MONTHS INTEREST FREE RENTAL
- 4 quarterly payments of £17.50 (or £15 for an ex-rental violin), payable by credit or debit card. The violin then becomes yours. Total cost is only £70.
- We offer Stentor Student violin outfits from 1/16 to 4/4 size. All our violin outfits are carefully checked and set-up in our workshop, and come complete with 4 string adjusters and correctly fitted pegs and bridge.
- After completion of the rental, we will part-exchange your violin when you are ready to move to another size.
- The scheme is only available to school children. Adults can use our rent to buy scheme. It can be done by mail-order, but there is a £9 delivery charge.
Student Cello Rental
- Our cello rental scheme enables your child to play on a well set-up cello, at a very moderate cost. As the child grows, the cello can easily be exchanged for a larger size at any time.
- The outfit is properly set-up in our workshop, with a fitted bridge, 4 string adjusters, a set of Dogal strings (or similar), together with a padded cover and bow.
- The rental fee is only £30 per 3 calendar months. The price includes our "peace of mind" cover, which covers you for loss or damage. Cellos from 1/8 up to full-size can be rented.
- The scheme is only available to school children and to personal callers only.. Adults can use our rent to buy scheme. Cello rentals are available to personal callers only.
